Any excuse for a roadtrip

Ever since I was in my early teens, we have frequently visited the north coast of Northern Ireland, mainly Portrush and Portstewart. We always drive the same route home and pass the ruins of Dunluce Castle. Its situated right on the edge of the coast surrounded by sea,  it always looks so beautiful with the sun setting around it. I have always wanted to photograph it, but for some reason have never actually done it. So today (slightly randomly) I grabbed my camera, ipod and friend (every roadtrip needs some company) and drove the 80(ish) miles to Portballintrae just to photograph the castle ruins.

When driving up the weather started looking more grey and foggy, but thankfully around the castle it was just beautifully soft lighting. I editted the image by darkening it a little but apart from that i was extremely happy with the outcome of the photo.
Alot of my friends thought I was ridiculous driving the whole way just to take a few photos, but it was such a beautiful day, gorgeous scenery and I had amazing company for the journey, what other way would I have wanted to spend my day?

Photography... the best excuse for a roadtrip!

I've been spending alot of time driving  recently, it always seems to be the same route. Normally I just drive on automatic, not really paying attention to my surroundings, just the traffic ahead. My day was brightened when I noticed this on passing.

Normally I hate pointless graffitti, I'm so used to seeing it everywhere I go and so often  its political or offensive, only reminding Belfast of its past and the troubles.  This however, made me laugh.. someone obviously had a sense of humour, so i had to record it.

This could well be the start of a new project, comparing the traditional murals to artwork like this.
